Who we are

Curio Asia is the creative production house behind Kokoro No Tomo, the first ever Japan-related TV Program aired on Indonesian national television in 2012. It was originally a fun project borne from the passion of our founders, who had lived (studying and working) in Japan and wanted to share their insights on Japanese values and culture, as well as the survival and success stories of fellow Indonesians living in Japan. Kokoro No Tomo was meant to inspire and viewers through its positivity, as well as entertain them with Japan’s beautiful attractions.

Vision: To discover and to inspire

Kokoro No Tomo has gained a loyal audience over 7 seasons, and is still being broadcast. The program is a highly effective media platform for Japanese products/services, and is currently supported by the Japanese Government. It’s also sponsored by established Japanese companies such as Mitsubishi Motors, Unicharm, Pocari Sweat, Sharp Electronics, and many more.

Curio Asia has developed strong relationships with these esteemed companies. From program sponsors, they have become clients of our professional production services: creating video company profiles, TVCs, event documentaries, and creative campaigns in the Indonesian market. Over the years, we have built a reputation for developing Japan-related content that embodies authentic Japanese culture and spirit.

Chief Producer

Sriwijaya Saputra Ali

Sriwijaya graduated from Tokyo International University, majoring in International Broadcasting. During his time in Japan he interned at Freemantle Media Japan and MTV Networks Japan, after which he took up a role in the Jakarta Bureau of NHK, Japan’s national public broadcasting organization.

Sriwijaya was the Producer of Kokoro No Tomo  for 7 seasons.

Chief Executive Officer

Andy Pangestu

Graduated from University of Technology Sydney and obtained his MBA from the International University of Japan, Niigata. His corporate experience took him to Citibank Tokyo as well as Deutsche Bank in Tokyo and Singapore, and he was also the Assistant Producer for ASEAN Project: Commemorative 5 years of Japan Tsunami.

Chief Operating Officer

David John

David graduated from Binus University and currently represents Curio Asia in Japan. He was also the Executive Producer of Kokoro No Tomo and co-founded the Indonesian Community in Japan (ICJ), which consists of more than 1,000 working professionals in Japan.

Prior to joining Curio Asia, David worked at Deutsche Bank. He’s also a professional magician, boasting membership in the world-famous Magic Castle.
